Bow, SS Maheno - Print
Behold the glorious SS Maheno. Built in 1905, the SS Maheno started as a luxury cruise liner, sailing between Sydney and Aukland before eventually becoming a medicine ship during WWI. It was one of the first turbine-driven steamers made and a powerful one at that. It was a true marvel of its time. In 1935, the ship was to return to its former cruise liner status. However, the boat was deemed unsafe for usage and eventually bought by a shipbreaker in Japan. On its journey up to the Japanese shores, a Huge winter cyclone caused the ship to break away from its towline and, after three days, crash onto Fraser Island. Deteriorating more and more as time goes on, the SS Maheno serves as a reminder of the power of the ocean that surrounds the beautiful shores of Fraser Island. A serendipitous name, the Maheno, for it, means Island in Maori; she knew where she wanted to retire.
Each Print is signed, & printed on high-quality, cold-press fine art matte paper. This Print is part of a LIMITED EDITION series. Once stocks sell out, the Prints will no longer be available. Prints have an additional 1-inch white border for matting and framing purposes.
